Laverock Holiday Cottages

We are based near Barnard Castle, Co. Durham and our 50 acre farm is situated in a designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

Our cottages are specially designed for people with dogs, and as well as the chance to help out on the farm we have a fantastic purpose built 120 foot indoor Agility Arena available for all year round use!

We have two cottages available, both sleeping 4 people, and up to 4 dogs are included free of charge, further dogs are welcome for a nominal weekly charge. Our cottages are converted byres and date back to the 1700's.

The farm itself sits just over 1000 feet high and is surrounded by fantastic walking country, with the Yorkshire Dales being only 30 mins away and the Lake District 1 hour.

Burnfoot, so named because of its location at the confluence of two tributaries of the River Coquet, was created by perhaps the greatest of Victorian inventor industrialists, Lord Armstrong, and was an integral part of his world-renowned Cragside Estate, now owned by the National Trust.

There are lots of fantastic walks straight from the doorstep, and plenty of secure space on site for dogs to stretch their legs!

Bring your dog to Westnewton Estate for a break in the Northumberland National Park. Westnewton is ideally placed between coast and countryside with long sandy beaches from Berwick upon Tweed in the north to Whitley Bay in the south. Visit Bamburgh beach and enjoy a walk against the spectacular backdrop of Bamburgh Castle overlooking the north sea.

Ramble in the foothills of the Cheviot or climb to the top and take in the panoramic views of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Refresh yourself in the local pubs and cafes. The Border Hotel at Kirk Yetholm is only 7 miles from Westnewton and welcomes dogs in the bar where they can lie in front of a log fire as you enjoy good food.

Sit on the patio of the Barn at Beal, a short drive from Berwick, and admire the view of Lindisfarne, the Holy Isle. Stroll along the main street of Wooler full of local independent shops and tempting cafes.

The Deeps is a stunning cottage situated in an elevated position commanding spectacular views over the Derwent Valley.

This 19th century stone cottage provides fabulous accommodation of the highest standard in a secluded and peaceful setting more than 400 metres away from the nearest road along it's own private track.
The Deeps is perfect for dogs with walks directly from the front door and stone floors from the entrance plus a wood burning stove which is every dog’s favourite place to sleep.

Two well behaved dogs are welcome (£10 charge per dog).
