Hi, My name is Bella, I’m 8 months old and I live at the farmhouse next to Moray Cottages with my humans Fiona & Robert.
I arrived here when I was just 8 weeks old and everyone was bigger than me… even Porky the cat!
Mind you Robert & Fiona have been here 10 years now. They arrived in 2004 and by Christmas 2005, had converted the old barn into two lovely cottages and welcomed their first guests over Christmas 2005.
As Robert & Fiona have always had dogs, their aim was to make the cottages dog friendly and an absolute priority was that each cottage should have an enclosed garden that was as secure as possible.
Apparently there have been no escapees.. except for a Lurcher that “popped” over the fence to say hello to the Black Lab next door ☺.
I really am a lucky dog living here. There are lots and lots of great walks which I’m just discovering. but my absolute favourite (at the moment) has to be Lossiemouth and its beaches.
It’s quite a short drive to the coast and even in high season, there are miles and mile of empty beaches for me to go “mad dog”!
Occasionally when we go to the coast (and as a special treat for the humans) we go to one of the most dog friendly pubs around here, The Kimberly at Findhorn. The first time I went in there I was sitting on my mat trying to be well behaved when a big man came over and scooped me up, let me lick his face and generally be my over-friendly self.. It turned out he was the owner of the pub!
Of course, there are also some fantastic walks and scenery closer to home where we can walk up into the hills.
This North East corner of Scotland is often overlooked by visitors who usually choose the West coast. But Moray is a hidden gem, with great scenery, good road access and lots to do for humans and dogs. Don’t forget that Speyside is home to some of the worlds’ best known whisky distilleries. Apparently lots of humans find that very exciting!
As I was born in March, I’ve not seen any snow yet but I have been told we can get quite a lot of snow so I’m looking forward to a white Christmas… should be fun!
