Home Farm Cottages is a quiet rural base at the foot of the Mendip Hills to explore North Somerset
The cottages are cozily furnished and 4 have enclosed gardens. There is a further 2 acres of lawns/fields to exercise the dogs or children. The cottages are surrounded by farmland, trails, and the Loxton Valley.
Straight from the house, the Mendips, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), offer a pleasant climb to Crook Peak which offers 360 degree views across to South Wales, the North Devon Coast, Glastonbury Tor, and the Somerset Flats. The Sunday Times reports this as one of the top 10 views in England.
After many years of renting holiday cottages, the Owners of Home Farm Cottages have furnished each cottage to the standards that they would expect themselves.
Near Home Farm Cottages
Our guest’s favourite haunts (apart from the many good pub/restaurants nearby), are:
- Wells which is England’s smallest city with a Cathedral, the Bishops Palace and regular street markets.
- Bath boasting Georgian buildings and Roman ruins, plus shops, crescents, museums plus the famous Pulteney Bridge.
- Bristol offers its Zoo, the SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
- Glastonbury – famous for its TOR and Festival, it also has many arts and crafts in the shopping area. Street with Clarks Shopping Village a mile or two further on.
Many National Trust sites are in the area. Tyntesfield has been much enjoyed by previous guests, and for Wolf Hall fans, two of the National Trust locations used for filming are nearby.
Miles of walks and cycle trails directly from Home Farm. There is Cheddar Reservoir, Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes for fishing lovers.
Or on a cool evening, just curl up around the log fires (in 3 of the cottages of the ‘dogs welcome’ cottages), and enjoy a pleasant night in.

Home Farm Cottages Accommodation
Granary Cottage sleeps 6 and includes a ground floor bedroom and bathroom as well as a further 2 bedrooms and shower room upstairs. Dogs welcome.
Frys Barn is ground floor level and sleeps 4, in 2 bedrooms with 2 bath/shower rooms (it has 2 steps inside). Dogs welcome.
Hayloft sleeps 4 and has a super-king sized bed in the main bedroom, and a fully enclosed garden with views across the Loxton Valley. Dogs welcome.
Scrumpy Cottage sleeps 2. With a super-king sized bed, this cottage is also on one floor.
