Old Rectory Cottages Flixton Details

Old Rectory Cottages offers four smart holiday homes and a holiday lodge allowing couples to relax in the tranquil surroundings of a Victorian Rectory. Situated on the Suffolk/ Norfolk border in extensive grounds of almost seven acres and surrounded by countryside, it is an ideal location to unwind. A haven for wildlife.

Couples will find the high-quality Four-Star Gold Award accommodation of Old Rectory Cottages, perfect. Normally short breaks are available from the beginning of November until the end of February. It is always worth contacting us if you are planning a last-minute break.

Old Rectory Cottages are proud to say that we have been awarded “Gold” status under the Green Tourism Business Scheme which we joined in 2014. You can be assured that everything is being done to minimise the environmental impact on this beautiful serene area.

Well equipped with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Tastefully furnished with a mixture of modern and traditional features. Generally, we are here to welcome guests and answer any questions you have during your stay.

We are dog friendly with up to two well-behaved dogs welcome. You can exercise your dog in our field which is full of the scents left by rabbits and pheasants. There are woodland and excellent country lane walks from the cottages without even having to get into your car.

At Old Rectory Cottages, we have even compiled a list of pubs where dogs are welcome.

We make no extra charge for dogs. However, dogs must be kept off the furniture, supervised both inside and outside of the cottages, and never left in the cottages by themselves.

We can also provide details of local beaches that allow dogs. A run along the beach may be one of the highlights of their holiday.

The Butler’s Pantry

Looking for a very special stay? This is the cottage for you. A beautiful conversion has resulted in a large stylish comfortable courtyard apartment that delivers the “wow” factor. Furnished with individually selected pieces to give a bespoke and distinctive feeling and added luxury features that are sure to impress. The Butler’s Pantry is accessed via 13 steps into a Victorian brick courtyard.

Both the kitchen and the wet room have high sloping ceilings, giving the cottage a great feeling of spaciousness. Enjoy the luxury of the large bedroom which has a super king bed, is sumptuously furnished and has atmospheric lighting. Add a separate Lounge/Dining room and you can be sure the Butler’s Pantry offers a perfect sanctuary for couples.

The Old Pump House

For pure indulgence, The Old Pump House would be hard to rival. Extremely cosy and packed with character.

Lovingly & sympathetically converted, it is accessed via 13 steps into a Victorian brick courtyard. Retaining many characterful and original features, like parts of the original pump mechanism. The high ceilings, the inglenook fireplace in the bedroom and country furniture all combine to provide a relaxed ‘lived in’ comfortable atmosphere. The cottage is truly a home from home, designed to provide the ultimate getaway from it all.

The cottage boasts a well-equipped kitchen and an integral spacious lounge – a curtain hugs the door for cosiness on winter nights.

Walking through into the large bedroom, you will be impressed by the way the room is displayed- described as “pure theatre”. Add the large ensuite wet room and this is a delightful hideaway.

The Old Coach House and Sam’s Stable

The conversion of the Rectory’s Victorian stable block has resulted in two spacious single-storey properties with comfort and style evident throughout, and which are particularly suited to less mobile guests. Enjoying excellent views over the Old Rectory’s orchard to the surrounding farmland, the cottages’ high ceilings add to the sense of spaciousness, whilst the log burners are there for romantic winter evenings. Guests will find The Old Coach House and Sam’s Stable offer perfect hideaways to escape from the pressures of a busy life.

Our Lodge

Orchard View

Set among the trees our new lodge Orchard View offers an imposing view over The Old Rectory Cottages orchards and the surrounding unspoilt countryside. Built to our own specification, the lodge has been decorated and furnished to compliment the building. The single storey building means that it is particularly suited to less mobile guests. Orchard View offers an idyllic relaxing retreat for two and a fantastic base to explore the many attractions the area offers.

It offers a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with two sets of patio doors that allow you to admire the great views and offers access to the two decked areas – ideal for eating al-fresco; enjoying a glass of wine, or just relaxing after you return from a day discovering the area. Combine this with a king-size bed made up with quality linen and the lodge offers a wonderful sanctuary for couples.

Although the modern chic kitchen is fully equipped, if you’d rather take a break from the cooking, there is the village pub within easy walking distance and a great selection of country pubs/restaurants a short drive away. We are always happy to offer recommendations.

There are lots of things to do during your stay at Old Rectory Cottages. The village pub and Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum just a short stroll away. In addition, Bungay is around three miles away, which has shops to stock up on provisions. Also, Norwich with its cobbled streets, ancient buildings and half-timbered houses, is nineteen miles away. The stunning Suffolk coast is an easy drive away.

The area also offers good opportunities for walking, fishing and cycling.
