Anglesey is a small island off the coast of North West Wales. It is connected to the mainland by the Britannia and Menai Suspension Bridges. There is always something to do on Anglesey. Whether it be exploring the beaches with your dog or walking some of the 125 miles of the Wales Coastal path.
Dog Friendly Conwy
Conwy county is an ideal holiday destination for all of the family. One third of the county lies in Snowdonia national park, an ideal area for exploring with your dogs. The gateway village to Snowdonia – Betws-y-Coed, has plenty of family activities there too – plenty of walking opportunities! If that doesn’t appeal to you, how about Llandudno – Wales’ largest seaside resort with Wales’ longest pier. There are also plenty of shops to mooch around, or take in a visit to Conwy Castle. If Llandudno seems a little busy for you, then try the quieter resorts of Colwyn Bay or Rhos-on-Sea. Conwy may be small, but there is plenty to see and do.
Dog Friendly Gwynedd
Gwynedd in North Wales, has it all – mountains, woodlands, rivers and the sea. Beddgelert is the ideal base for exploring the classic Snowdonia National Park beauty spots. What if you don’t fancy exploring the mountains? There’s always the sandy beaches, cliffs and estuaries of the Llyn Peninsula, which has part of the Wales Coast Path on it. Can’t make up your mind between coast and country? The harbour town of Porthmadog is the dividing line. Go a little way west and you’re on the sands of the Llyn Peninsula. In the other direction and climb up the wooded Vale of Ffestiniog into the mountains by railway. A perfect part of Wales for your and your dog.
Dog Friendly Powys
If stunning unspoilt countryside, great hospitality and great dog walking countryside is what you’re after then a holiday with your dog to Powys, Mid Wales is essential. The Brecon Beacons hardly need any introduction and there are some great walks there. However, a little bit of detective work with a map will take you and your dog away from the honeypot areas and into some simply stunning countryside. Here you’ll find waterfalls, ruined chapels, mine works and hours of solitude.
Of course the Brecon Beacons are only one small part of the beautiful county of Powys. If you head further North there’s plenty more to do. Builth Wells holds the Royal Welsh Show every year, Wales’ largest show and some would argue the best Agricultural and Country show in the UK! After all these activities, it’s good to know that there’s a great variety of eating establishments to refuel at before you head back to your dog friendly holiday property.
